Author Description Lambertus Jacobus Johannes Aafjes, known as Bertus Aafjes, was a Dutch auhor and poet whose work is marked by Catholicism.<br /> <br />Aafjes was born in Amsterdam. He wrote poems on the resistance to the German occupation during the World War II. He died in Venlo.<br /><br />Between 1951 and 1973 he lived and worked on a real castle, the Castle Hoensbroek, near Maastricht in The Netherlands (see photo).
